To add a link to your Instagram Story, create a Story, tap the sticker icon, choose Link, enter the full web address, then tap Done. Place the sticker where people can see it and share the Story.
The Link sticker works for more than a product page. You can send people to an event, a service page, a menu, or a new article. If you need the profile link instead, see how to add a link to your Instagram bio.
How do you add a link sticker to a Story?
Open Instagram and start a Story with a photo, video, or a simple background. Tap the sticker icon, then select Link. Paste or type the full URL, including the website address, and tap Done.
Move the sticker to a spot that is easy to notice. Add a short line of text that explains what people will find there, such as “See the menu” or “Read the details.” Then share the Story with your usual audience.
Where should you place the link sticker?
Keep it clear of your main text, faces, and the controls near the top and bottom of the screen. The sticker needs to be easy to tap. Give people a reason to tap it before they reach the sticker, too. A link with no context can feel like an interruption.
For a local business, use a destination that matches the Story. A post about a weekend event should lead to event details. A service video can link to the relevant service page. Keep the next step obvious once someone arrives.
Why can’t you find the Link sticker?
First, update Instagram and restart the app. Open the sticker tray again and look for Link. Instagram has made link stickers available broadly, though new accounts and accounts with repeated Community Guidelines violations may be restricted. Check Account Status in Instagram if the sticker still does not appear.
If the sticker is available but the link fails, check for a typo and make sure the address opens in a browser. Try the destination on your phone before sharing it. A page that redirects several times or requires a sign-in may confuse people who tap from a Story.
How can you make the Story link useful for your business?
Match the link to one clear action. If you want people to book, link to the booking page. If you want them to understand an offer, link to a page that explains it. Avoid sending every Story to the home page when a more specific destination would answer the viewer’s question.

Common questions
Can any Instagram account add a link sticker?
Instagram made link stickers available broadly, but an account that is new or has repeated Community Guidelines violations may not have access. Check Account Status if the sticker is missing.
Do viewers need to follow me to open the link?
They need to be able to view your Story. Once they can see it, they can tap the Link sticker and open the destination.
Can I change the link after I post the Story?
You cannot edit the sticker URL on a Story that is already live. Remove the Story and publish it again with the corrected link.
Do I need the old swipe-up feature?
No. Instagram replaced Story swipe-up links with the Link sticker. Add the sticker when you create the Story.
Why does my Instagram Story link not open?
Check the full URL, including the website address, then try opening it outside Instagram. Some destinations may also require a sign-in or may be unavailable to viewers.
